It’s hard to go wrong when you’re making a game staring Indiana Jones (although some have gone horribly wrong). And backed by Ron Gilbert, Lucasfilm Games and a Spielberg/Lucas classic, this Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
sparkles with creativity and does not disappoint at all.
With very impressive graphics for the day and clever (if a bit obtuse at times) puzzles, Last Crusade
drips with atmosphere and deploys a pleasant dose of humor, too. It is Ron Gilbert we’re talking about here, right?
After playing this game for more than a few hours, you can’t help but be amazed at how the wizards at Lucasfilms managed to squeeze so many graphics and sound (and animation!) into three little blue disks.
One of the really unusual things about this graphic adventure is that it also includes arcade-style action sequences for gamers to play in-between all of the pointing and clicking. Right at the start, should you go into the gym’s locker room, Indy will walk out in shorts and sneakers (wearing his hat…) and climb into a boxing ring for a bit of sparring with a trainer. Say what?! Oh, and in this Lucasfilm Game production, you can even die adding to the challenge - although it is quite challenging enough already (IMO) and quite long, too.
A great game indeed. Check it out.
Note: if you don’t have an original copy, you will need to reference a Translation Table
to get past the original copy protection.
