Notes: Not shareware, but more Abandonware. Back in the day this software's retail price was $49.95. Free Spirit Software was mostly known for creating children's educational software. However they also produced some very high-quality Amiga diagnostic software, and adult games. 

I'm putting these excellent tools here due to their unique user-interface (UI) and practical utility - mainly when you want to test your system's various types of RAM. The developer, Mark Brannon, seems to have re-purposed the interesting UI style he created for other Free Spirit Software titles he wrote: adult games Sex Vixens in Space and Planet of Lust. I've only ever used the Memory Doctor program. The Drive Doctor seems to be tailored to original mechanical hard drives. UAYOR

Doctor Ami is an Amiga memory and hard drive diagnostic utility that performs low-level tests on your system using an elegant inter- face with simple controls and displays. Doctor Ami .. consists of two programs, Memory Doctor and Drive Doctor.

Memory Doctor scans all system and expansion memory, locates and identifies bad memory locations, and creates an error file that can be used to automatically map-out bad memory locations. Drive Doctor will read all disk sectors, locate and identify sectors with errors, and automatically map-out bad sectors. Boot Block and Root Block tests can also be performed.

MEMORY DOCTOR Information

Select a memory region to test with the ‘Memory Regions’ display. The ‘Test Information’ section will show pertinent information for the selected region. The ‘Region Display’ will graphically present the memory region’s memory allocation. Use the (B)egin and (E)nd sliders to adjust the test boundaries.

Select the test configuration using the ‘Memory Test Controls’.

• HOLD TEST: Checks the ability of a memory chip to hold a value over a given period of time. (Significantly slows down the test)
• READ TEST: Only reads a memory location. No attempt is made to write to memory. (Fast test, will not show all possible errors)
• R/W (Read/Write): Sets all bits at every memory location, then checks each bit. (The most thorough test)
• QUICK: Turns off the graphic data output during the test.

Press the RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON or the ‘View Region/Test’ button with a region selected to view the ‘Memory Diagnostic Display’. This display gives in-depth information about the region, the test, and any defective memory chips.
