C64 <> C16 Keyboard

Hello all,
after getting my Ultimate 64 Elite, I was looking for a nice new home for it. I decided to get a Pixelwizard SX-64-color-style C64C case: Since the brown keycaps of the breadbin C64 do not fit at all, color-wise, and the light beige keycaps of the original C64C seem to be a bit too light, I thought about trying out a C16 keyboard, since it gray keycaps seem to fit quite nicely, color-wise. However, I encountered a "slight" problem:
The C64 and the C16 do have a different keyboard layout, have a look: Just exchanging the keycaps does not help at all, so I am thinking about modifying the original C16 keyboard mapping, hardware-wise, but this seems to be one hell of a task. So my question is: Has anyone of you done this by chance? Or does anyone of you know alternative ways to get this task done?
