Evie posted some exceptionally cool news late last night on Twitter:
Marg Morabito and I requested support for 80-cols on the Backbit Forums last month - and Evie has done it! I'm going to be updating my firmware today and will report back on this.

So this is what it looks like on my C128 hooked into my C= 1902A monitor with the new 2.4.6 firmware.

This is the backbit in 40 columns:

And here it is in 80 columns, for comparison:

Incidentally, I've yet to actually get any programs to successfully launch (C128 or C64). Not sure if it is me or the software. I'm started a discussion about it on the Backbit Forum and with a friend in town with a similar setup to see what's going on.

More soon!

Evie:
You have to hold the Commodore key to launch in 64 mode. If you have a BBT file configured for C64 it will launch automatically.

There are still compatibility issues for programs that try to access the disk drive directly, which many uncracked games do. We'll need a BackBit collection for the 128.
That's a bit tricky, as I think most of my C128 progs are uncracked. Hm...
