The Man Who's Keeping 1990s Virtual Reality Machines Alive

by intric8 Sat May 28, 2016 9:03 am

Interesting feature on Kotaku about a man in the UK who has restored and maintains one of the last remaining first generation-VR systems, dating from 1991, called the Virtuality 1000.

The machine is powered by an "Amiga 3000, Commodore’s high-end 32-bit workstation from 1990. (Later Virtuality models ditched the Amiga in favor of a 486 PC.)"

I recall hopping into one of these and being completely mesmerized. My "game" only lasted a few moments at best. But it was impressive.
