Just got an a2000 from eBay to get back to my childhood experiences. Now, I want to add a CDROM....I also bought an IDE card from eBay....now....can I plug any IDE CDROM or does it have to be a compatible unit? .

Also, I've had on my wall for many years an a3000T motherboard that was given to me rusting away. But since acquiring the a2000 I looked at it and its still in good shape.

Can I drop the Fat Agnus and Denis chips straight from the a3000T into my a2000? or is it not as simple as that.

Thank you.

If your A3000 is an 8375, no it wont work. I think you need an 8372A, then its a drop in replacement.
(but I dont think A3000 came with 8375, so should be ok.).

ECS Denise should be a drop in.

The A3000 has a couple of different Agnus chips, but, none of them are drop in for the 2000. If you try, you'll likely fry your 3000 Agnus, which is practically impossible to find a replacement for. The only way you can use that Agnus, I believe, is to use a MegaChip adapter, which were sold with that Agnus, to give the 500/2000 2MB Chip RAM.

I would think most IDE CD-ROMs would work... some controllers, I guess, could be picky and not work. Install the card and its driver software and see what happens :)

Maybe you can let us know which IDE card it is so we can check for any special considerations of this specific card.
