I'm really happy with the MouSTer adapter that lets you connect a USB mouse to the Amiga's mouse port, see my review a few days ago.

However, there is one big omission: the scroll wheel doesn't work. The Amiga DB9 mouse port was never designed to allow for a scroll wheel.

However, what if we use a trick. The Amiga does support a third mouse button, even though Amiga mice usually don't have one. So we make it that when the third mouse button is pressed, this up/down mouse movement is interpreted as scroll events. This is what the FreeWheel utility can already be configured to do.

Next step: a converter like the MouSTer turns scroll wheel movement into up/down movement with the third button pressed. There you have it: scroll wheel support through the regular mouse port.

But... I have no idea who the maker of the MouSTer is, and how to contact them. Anyone have any idea?

Ah, I didn't realize that they made those themselves, thanks!
