Hi everyone
Perhaps many of you have already know this news but I would like to officially inform you that Miguel Fides (the creator of the A1100 board) together with the collaboration of Edu Arana has launched a new accelerator for Amiga A1200 called Tsunami.

Our main idea was to make a low cost accelerator with a performance similar to what was once a standard, the famous blizzard 1230. (about 199€)

specs:

- 68EC030 at 42MHZ.
- 64MB Fast RAM.
- 68882 FPU footprint ready
- External expansion port for future upgrades
- Clockport port (RTC only)

A first batch has already been launched via preorder with surprising success and I wanted to create this thread to announce when a second batch will be made.

Anyway, if someone is really interested and wants to be personally notified by email, send an email showing interest to [email protected]

More info about the project:

If anyone has any questions, you can ask them here as I am part of the tsunami team.

Thanks

Very nice! I'd love to have one of these. That is, if I can ever snag a decent A1200 without costing the proverbial arm and leg...

But, if I do happen to procure an A1200 I will definitely be looking to acquire a Tsunami 8-)

Edit: Oooh, I just realized that the A1100 will also support the Tsunami. Hmm, I have a spare A1000 that I might just have to repurpose the case... :D

Everything is going good, Factory has sent us a photo of the PCB-Test to confirm the launch.
Everything is correct so shortly they will manufacture the ones we agreed on and send them to us.
When they arrive we have to solder the connectors, burn the CPLD's and little else.

Does it have a built-in IDE interface for use with a CF card? I'm assuming there is, since there is a CF card slot on the board.

No, does not have it.
You have to use the internal IDE of the A1200, the read speed on the internal IDE is about 2mb per second with tsunami installed.

Looking so good! Are you going to put a socket for the 6882?

Update!
Cards received from the factory and testing them.

By the way, if someone wants to put an FPU (not included) it works.

I inform you that we have launched a new batch of 1230 tsunami accelerators for A1200.

As many of you already know, in these times there is a worldwide price increase in all electronic components, it is even difficult to find some. Even so, we have been able to get this second bacth launched at the same price.

I do not know if in the near future there will be a third batch until prices and supply stabilize. It is not a marketing technique, it is the truth.

If you are interested in acquiring a Tsunami 1230, this is the time.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
