I recently acquired the A1000 version of the Plipbox. It requires either a 9v or 5v 500mAh wxternal power source, but I've seen people use a floppy port to USB adapter to power their Plipbox.

That's a cool solution, but if I go down that route, I won't be able to use my Gotek drive.

Instead, I want to use a dedicated USB port.

My A1000 has a 3D printed back and has two USB jacks. The top one goes to a PiStorm's usb keyboard port and the bottom one is unused.

That said - what would be the easiest way to get 5V? I was thinking on building a floppy connector Y splitter and connect the USB port to that? Otherwise does someone have another suggestion?

Update:

I tapped into the floppy connector on the board with a small pin connector and made a bespoke connector for the USB Molex. Works great so far and serves the same purpose as the Floppy-to-USB connector others have been using.

Next step is to order some shrink tubing as that electrical tape looks really bad
