I used to do something like this back in the day with my 1000 and this same setup. I had a boot floppy that was kickstart 1.3 and a basic WB that started the boot process and then did an assign over to the SCSI drive I had and finished booting up. I must have made like 20 or more backups of that boot floppy too, lol!

The 520 is an IDE interface, so you will need use an A600 scsi.device driver in order to access it from an A1000.

Regarding the 520:

It emulates the Amiga 600‘s internal IDE. As weird as it sounds - this device is called „scsi.device“.

To use it in an otherwise unexpanded A1000, you need to create a boot disk with an altered KickROM disk. You need to put this scsi.device from the a600 into the KickROM that is loaded from disk. This is possible but I don’t know how.

You might be better off with a Kickstart-replacement for the A1000, such as the one discussed here in the forum:
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=622

Then you can boot from the 520 without any disk.

You might want to consider to open up a new thread for this as this can be easily overlooked in an existing discussion regarding a ZIP drive :).

Cheers,
McT

Thank you everybody.

We can put kickstart on 520, maybe we could put a modified 1.3 kickstart with the scsi.device ;)

I'll open a new thread dedicated to the Classic 520 as soon as I receive mine.

Thanks again !

One minor improvement

First two assigns -change to:

DH0:c/Assign SYS: DH0:
SYS:c/Assign c: SYS:c

Two less commands to execute from floppy

Maybe also move the SetPatch inside the IF THEN block and execute from ZIP.

The boot floppy for my SupraDrive 1000 starts with
Binddrivers
DH0:c/assign c: DH0:c
...
So only Binddrivers and the Supra driver in the expansion folder are loaded from floppy.
Supra doesn’t require a mountlist entry as the partition info is loaded from the RDB.
