If you mean the pins that fit into the custom chip sockets on the motherboard, I just used standard machined pin headers like these.

You can find the same thing on eBay for much cheaper. The alignment wasn't as difficult as you would think. I just placed the bottom of the headers into a spare empty socket, poked the other side up through the board and soldered the end pins on the top of the board to hold it in place. It was then just a matter of removing the spare socket, and soldering all the pins proper. Worked perfectly! Like Eric said, the only issue so far was I made that notch too narrow. Luckily I could just file it larger. There are no traces in that area, only the ground plane, but I didn't even have to file enough to expose it. The board design has already been updated for way more clearance for those capacitors than necessary.

I'm still waiting or a component for the board before I can do the smoke test, so probably not until next weekend before we see what happens.

Would I be correct in assuming that when the PAL's are decoded, that the equations will get published as well? Will everything be open sourced?

Thanks - I appreciate that. We should have some more info on that project in the next couple of weeks, work permitting.

We are getting really, really close!

The new Rejuvenator can now boot Workbench and we have Chip Mem!!!

Brand new Rejuvenator shown here booting WB 1.3.

Joethezombie:
There are still some issues, as seen by the memory corruption in the pictures. Work continues, but wow, are we close!

Nearly there, ya'll!

Joe is a freaking master sorcerer! Move over, Gandalf. Joe's coming to town! <3

Very exciting! I was intrigued to find out this was happening here in Idaho. Makes me wonder if there are more than two A1000s in this state. Wish I could offer more support but I'll keep cheering you both on.

This is exciting news :)

Are you using the PALs from the second board, or are these clone PALs?

Anyhow, this is exciting :)

Joe is using my PALs from the 2nd board, yeah. After he gets the new boards singing pretty, the final step is decoding the PALs. Between my bare board, the 1st board and the 2nd board, Joe identified differences across all three. The fact that he's been able to get his new one nearly there is an impressive feat of engineering to say the least.

And then, just one day later.
IMG_3008.jpg
WE'RE FULLY OPERATIONAL!

The schematics are now PROVEN.

We're down to the final pre-production step: decoding the PAL logic equations, of which work had already begun. Still more to be done, but this feels real you guys. Very exciting!
