Is that chip replaceable?

Unfortunately not.

All chips in the A600 are soldered directly to the mainboard except the KickROM.

The only thing you can from afar is order a DiagROM, e.g. from eBay, and replace the KickROM. Then you can execute at least some tests.

And you can send over a fresh Workbench 1.3 or 2.1 disk as a minimal test. If that works it could be a software thing. Maybe a broken disk.

I’ve got it back now and on first turning it on it came up with a software error with red writing.

I turned it off and left it for an hour and unplugged all the cables and came back and turned it back on. Initially it was a grey screen but I wiggled the RGB to Scart plug and it came on.

The games loaded up and it’s back to normal.

I don’t know what’s going on.
Could it be a dodgy RGB-scart lead causing the issues?

Hi,

the cable itself sounds like an … unlikely option.

I would think you’d best order a DiagROM. If you go through eBay, check out the sellers from the DiagROM site.

In that case you can also sell it next time as tested.

Hi. Thanks. Just looked on YouTube about that DiagROM and it’s completely over my head. I don’t understand any of that kind of stuff so I’m going to have to find someone here in the Uk to look at it for me I think.
