I just dropped a small fortune on the Amiga 1000 with a rejuvenator. It looks to have the 1mb Agnus. So my quest is on to find the 8372B. Apologies to anyone that was bidding on it, I have been wanting one for so long.

Congrats, opcode77.

Do you also know how to upgrade the RAM from 1MB to 2MB?

I saw that one on eBay, but it was way too rich for my blood! Congrats on snagging it, I'm envious, lol

I have been following your project very closely. I saw that you had the company in Seattle make special boards with newer ram chips. My brother is the one who can do all of that stuff. He is good at hardware, he has been building 8-bit machines from scratch for the last couple of years. I think my big problem is the Agnus chip that is needed.

I think the rejuvenator project is the most important piece of hardware for the 1000 going forward. The Parceiro solved the ram/drive side of the house, the rejuvenator project should fix the chip ram problem. One of the reasons that I spent that much on the board was to make sure someone from this site got it just in case we need those pal chips. With the way things are lost in the mail or the German team might not be able to get what is needed and the chips rendered useless.

Are the ram chip pcbs freely available or are they willing to build more of them?

I didn't get my RAM upgrade from a local shop. A local friend of mine here in Seattle and member of this site - Christian - made the adapter boards and installed them into my Rejuvenator. Perhaps he'll see this post and be able to explain how he made the boards so others can follow his lead.

Search for SOIC to DIP adapters on eBay...there is almost always someone there selling them.

I just soldered the adapter boards. As pointed out above, the adapter boards are readily available on ebay.

I've seen a few 8375 NTSC versions available. Any difference between the 8372B and that one, beyond both addressing 2MB?

Edit: Never mind, just discovered that the 8372B is the MegaChip(?) 2MB version. The 8375 I referenced is strictly for the A500+ or A600. Seems like you could possibly use one of the MegaChip boards built by a guy on that other forum, perhaps?

Yeah Commodore didn't help with the way they named the chips.

8372A - 1 MB ECS PAL/NTSC
8375 - 1 MB ECS PAL
8375 - 1 MB ECS NTSC

8372AB - 2 MB PAL/NTSC
8372B - 2 MB PAL/NTSC
8375 - 2 MB PAL
8375 - 2 MB NTSC

The 8372s were both PAL and NTSC while the 8375s were either PAL or NTSC and either 1MB or 2 MB. They probably should have given each series its own number and rev, like they did with the other MOS chips.

For what its worth my MegaChip came with an 8375 NTSC that lived in an A2000 until the MegaChip board lost a few pins. I had to toss it but I did save the 8375 in case I find another...
