Hello,

Since I want to play with WB1.3 again I have built an A500 with IDE68k, 8 Mb fast, 1 Mb chip and 1,5 Mb Slow mem + Gotek. I have AF:s kickstart rom that is patched with scsi.device. I have run mem-tests for hours and it pass.

It was a real pain to configure a Compact Flash as a bootable harddrive but now it seems to work, well almost.
Sometimes the Amiga hangs when copying icons... For example I can't copy the SimGen drawer with files from the Fish adf. I can open the folder and see the files in workbench, but I can't copy then in workbench or with DOpus 4. DOpus stops and slows down the Amiga until I reboot. If I copy to the hard drive I can see that the read/write light turns on and off all the time. I get the same problem when copying the drawer to ram:
Sometimes when opening newer icons for drawer the window frame graphics gets scrambled.

My other problem is that the text showing the system info in SysInfo 4.4 gets scrambled and sometimes the program crash.

My guess is that some device or lib need to get updated, but which one? I have now installed ver 34.34.

Best regards,
Bent

Wow that sounds really weird. Sounds like a deep rabbit hole problem where frustration grows the deeper you dig. But I've not ever seen that.

However, I'm also not well-versed in the very economical and impressive-sounding IDE68K. I had something like this years ago that was sold by an individual on Amibay. He also sold an 8MB thing tha stacked on top as well. Sounds like they integrated it all! I wonder if it is all based off the same thing... Anyway. I do know DOpus uses a lot of RAM but it should be fine with the system stats you've provided.

I have seen a weird behavior where duplicating the "Empty" drawer in Workbench can sometimes hang for a bizarrely long time (5 seconds?) for an action that should be instant. But nothing like you describe for copying. Hopefully someone else here can lend a hand.

I'd start by setting MaxTransfer to 0x1FE00 in HDToolBox as documented here.

As for corruption in SysInfo - where is the 1.5MB slow mem coming from? I'd suggest removing / disabling it and see if there is any difference.

Hello,

Thank you for your answers.
I have 1FE00 in MaxTransfer and the correct Fastfilesystem-file (same as on workbench disk).

I did some more testing.

I get the same error copying simgen from gotek to ram:
When I try to copy with CLI, I can see that it tries to copy .info over and over until I press ctrl+C.
I guess I need to try another adf.

About SysInfo, it works prefectly when I boot and start the same version on adf. On the adf they use a setpatch 1.38 that I have no clue what it does? :D I have tried to run it and then SysInfo on the harddisk.. same error...
I have lots of other programs on the CF that works fine. Games and utilities.. so this really bugs me ;-D

Best regards.

Well, it seems like the adf is faulty. I downloaded the fish-.lha from Aminet and simgen can be copied from that file :) I really thought it was the same error as I have had for a while... then it worked with some soldering to make sure the slow mem and chip mem don't overlap.

SysInfo 4.4 don't seem to be compatible with 1.3.. maybe it is solved with setpatch on the disk-image?

Anyway, the Amiga works fine now :)
