As some of you might know, I'm a big fan of the GBA1000 project; a drop-in replacement for the A1000 mainboard. Here are some photos of a build that I finished recently and that I'm particularly fond of. My apologies for the size.

Thanks for showing this off! I have a vague question you might know something about. Over on A1K when they were developing the GBAPII++ for the GBA1000, GB and others allude to a version of the board that is "Local Bus" implying that it sits in the ZII slot but is somehow faster than the ZII's normal speed. Have you heard of this?

PS: I like the clean look of the CF drive and the floppy cable. Much better than my design.

Beautiful! Where can boards for this build be purchased? A1K.org? Might be time for me to get back into building Amiga hardware :)

All I know is a reply by Matze to my question on a1k regarding this matter.

The GBA1000 project is open source (sort of) and the gerbers are wandering around on the net, so you can have your boards made yourself by any familiar PCB manufacturer. I once purchased 3 boards in Poland from Archi-tech, but their webstore currently appears to be down.

EDIT: They are back online for now.

Just a few new old photos to stir up this thread a little. I once was amazed to find out that the GBA1000 is actually compatible with my A1060 Sidecar.

WhichAmiga detects the Sidecar as an A2088 bridgeboard and the whole setup is identified as an "expanded Amiga 2000+"

The GBA1000 from my initial posting has recently found herself a new owner in my friend Jiri from the Czech Republic, who has promised me to take good care of her. Jiri has been one of her so many secret admirers for years :)

He took a few more stylish pictures of her being partly undressed for us to enjoy. His Workbench setup is still a work in progress, but it is looking good already!

amazing and beautiful.

Anyone ever hear of like freelancer solders? I imagine it's probably possible to get the boards and many of the components assembled by a company in china, but presumably there are still quite a few Amiga chips you need to source from your old computer and then solder on?

well, it doesn't matter. I just have the one A1000, and it works great, so I don't want to sacrifice it for this incredibly sexy thing anyway. (if I say that like 10 times it will become true).
