Zilog announced, on April 15th, that after 48 years of making the Z80 CPU, used in many arcade games, home computers (such as our beloved C-128), consoles, and in modern embedded systems, production would cease after June this year. That's one hell of a run for a microprocessor....since 1976, damn!

We will still have the ‘e’ variant in a different package and it sounds like there are still other manufacturers that are producing the original versions.
